Apr 03, HS rated it really liked it. I have not read a more riveting account of an Indian businessman. From start to finish, the book is loaded with a lot of information interspersed with corporate gossip with ample references.

What I particularly liked was how the author managed to trace the childhood background of the businessman - well researched. The author has made it easy for the reader to read in between the lines when it came to understanding the corporate structure of the business! Its definitely critical of the businessman I have not read a more riveting account of an Indian businessman.

Its definitely critical of the businessman and probably heavily one-sided but seems to be detailed and specific where the author links the dealings with politicians and provides heavy additional fodder The last four chapters even provide a narration of the brother's feud and how the battle was a first captured. This is a book that should be made as compulsory reading for journalism students! Aug 25, Sarvesh Mathi rated it liked it.

The book sometimes gets a bit technical when discussing all the ways in which Reliance worked its way around the law, but if that was easy to explain, then Reliance couldn't have gotten away with it.

Hamish McDonald also gives a complete coverage to all the individuals that stood up to Reliance and the Ambanis. Apr 12, Uchit Shah rated it did not like it.

Basically, Polyester Prince which the Ambani Family approved off. It is basically like GURU Movie, all suspense, corruption, and bribery, and all that details edited as per Ambani convenience.

The book is still stuck in an era when Dhirubhai is still alive and hardly any details of how Mukesh and Anil took over the business and what they did. An indepth account of times of one of the great businessmen of India. Very well written. Gives ample descriptio of the Reliance way and the controversies surrounding the Ambani family. But, since wanted to finish it had spent good money on it! Actually give even the Polyester Prince a miss! Spend your money on bhel puri rather than buying the third book, called Mahabharata You'll ask, why? Because, you'll waste your money on shoddy cut n paste writings, repeating the same mind numbing tirade in each book, at least the two that I spent good money on and read! You wonder, why there are no advts, 'this chapter is Sponsored By Currency of sponsorship?

His sons, Anil and Mukesh, took over after his death in and their respective arms of the company are bigger than the parent ever was. Indian National Bibliography Author : B. Dhirubhai Ambani tops that distinguished list. He dared todream; and he realized it through imagination, a unique business style and dare. Welcome to the latest biography of Dhirubhai by Tarun Engineer; he- has also included the life and times of Mukesh and Anil in a finely created text. A good background alone cannot catapult a man to the success platform. Don't try to change things; rather, change yourself.

Dhirubhai created a business empire because he believed in himself as well as he changed himself according to the demands of markets. Thus spoke Dhirubhai, "If thinking is different from those of all others, if it is fastest and foremost and the objective is to constantly improve, then no one can defeat you! Mukesh and Anil have the same objectives, thinking and modus operandi. Advanced embedding details, examples, and help!

It's a very exploratory book that sheds light on the scandals of the corporate world. A nation where rich industrial captains run the government or pull the strings from behind the screen. Dhirubhai Ambani unscrupulously bought every Congress politician and got his licenses renewed.

The book is a tell-all-and-expose-it style of work, that tells us that Indian democracy is truly nonsense.

Instead, she argues it has consistently relied on violence and shock, and reveals the puppet strings behind the critical events of the last 40 years. Klein vividly traces the origins of modern shock tactics to the economic lab of the University of Chicago under Milton Friedman in the 60s, and beyond to the CIA-funded electroshock experiments at McGill in the 50s which helped write the torture manuals used today at Guantanamo Bay. Naomi Klein has once again written a book that will change the way we see the world.
